A Maryland nurse accomplished two rare feats in her battle with the Internal Revenue Service: She defended herself against the agency’s lawyers and won, and she got a ruling that could help tens of thousands of students deduct the cost of an MBA degree on their taxes. The US Tax Court handed Lori Singleton-Clarke her victory last month, saying the 47-year-old Bryantown, Md., woman had properly deducted nearly 000 in business school tuition. The Tax Court ruling should make it easier for many other professionals to deduct the expense of a Master in Business Administration degree.

Found it on the news: www.cbc.ca An internal investigation is under way after a “dynamic” takedown of two suspected drug traffickers in Abbotsford Oct. 9. At 1 pm that day, two Abbotsford police officers were conducting a foot patrol at Ravine Park in an area close to Abbotsford Collegiate which, according to police, is an area of concern for the department because it is known for drug dealing and open drug use. When the officers emerged from the park they saw a male pacing in front of a house in the 2500-block Bourquin Crescent East. A vehicle with two people inside pulled into the driveway and the officers allegedly saw a drug deal take place. The two officers then arrested three men involved, which entailed one officer taking control of the suspects’ vehicle after they got out, because it kept moving. The officers were also without the benefit of their patrol car. Police say the incident was “dynamic in nature” because people involved in the drug trade are often armed and the arrest of people during a drug transaction is dangerous. A 23-year-old Aldergrove man and a 20-year-old Fort Langley man face trafficking charges. A week later one of the officers involved in the arrest found a video of parts of the incident posted on youtube and brought it to the attention of his supervisor on the weekend of Oct. 17. On Oct. 19, Chief Const. Bob Rich directed the department’s Professional Standards Section to bring the matter to the attention of the Office of the Public Complaints Commissioner to review the amount of force used during the arrest. A Police Act investigation is also under way.
On July 28th 2006, two unidentified undercover cops came across the Seattle critical mass. The officers assaulted, tackled and arrested two cyclists without any warnings.
